Yula
Yula is our little golden girl we first adopted from Love & Second Chances that was brought over from HDS Adopt in South Korea. Before this I had no idea what kind of breed a jindo was, I had actually wanted a shiba inu for the longest time.
Dog dad found her listed on PetFinder (we should’ve screenshotted it, haha) but we went over to Love & Second Chance’s adoption listing and filled out their adoption application form.
It was a really exciting and nervous first experience. Actually at one point the page accidentally reset all the info I had typed out into the form and I was about to just call it a day and do it later, but Israel encouraged me to re-fill and submit it.
And so I did and we got a reply from Melody and a text from her foster mom at the time, Juliana, to set up a time to meet her and Yula to see if she’d be a good fit for us.
Yula was skittish and shy when we first saw her but she approached us when we would hold treats. Hehehe, we thought she was the cutest girl and said we wanted to proceed with adopting her.
Yula was super anxious indoors the first few months that we had her, I’d imagine this was due to never living indoors for the majority of her life. She would flinch at lights turning on and off and would bark at the TV when it turned on LOL. She loved the outdoors though and her tail was always up when we were out. She was also dog reactive (would jump, lunge, and growl) when we first got her but after a month or two and a couple of training classes later she got over it and I generally trust her in ignoring other dogs when walking because I’ll be handling Brie (who always wants to play).
It’s so weird thinking back on how she used to be and how she is now but she’s acclimated so well to living with us during the past year. Yula was the start of me becoming a full blown ig dog mom as I created the now Brie and Yula Instagram to dump photos of her, and now in turn making this blog to dump even more photos HAHA.
